Tomoe Gozen

Tomoe Gozen was a famous female warrior from Japan’s late Heian period (794–1185). She is known for her bravery and skills in battle, particularly during the Genpei War (1180–1185), which was a conflict between the Taira and Minamoto clans. Tomoe Gozen served under Minamoto no Yoshinaka, a prominent samurai, and was celebrated for her combat abilities, often depicted wielding a sword and riding into battle. Her story has become legendary in Japanese culture, symbolizing strength and courage.
