Hōgon-in is a sub-temple of Tenryu-ji, located in beautiful Arashiyama. It’s famous for its Lion’s Roar Garden, a peaceful Zen garden with rocks, moss, and a flowing stream. The temple is open seasonally, usually in spring and autumn, when the garden shows its most beautiful colors.
Visitors can relax, enjoy the scenery, and feel the calmness of Zen Buddhism. It’s a short walk from Saga-Arashiyama Station or the bamboo forest.
