Plum Blossoms at Zuishin-in: The Charm of Ono Plum Garden

The charm of the plum blossoms at Zuishin-in lies in their picturesque landscape. The red and white plum flowers blend together, creating an elegant scene that harmonizes with the temple’s tranquil atmosphere. Particularly, during early to mid-March, when the plum blossoms reach full bloom, the red and white flowers beautifully stand out against the backdrop of the blue sky, heralding the arrival of spring.

Zuishin-in is also famous for its delicate, pinkish-red plum blossoms known as hanezu-no-ume. In honor of these blossoms, the traditional “Hanezu Dance,” which conveys the culture of the Heian period, is held annually on March 30th. Many visitors come to witness this graceful tradition.
