The cherry blossoms at the Konoe Residence Ruins in Kyoto Gyoen are one of the most beautiful spring sights in Kyoto. This area was once the residence of the Konoe family, a prestigious noble family, and today it features a spacious lawn and stunning cherry trees.
The most famous among them are the weeping cherry trees (Shidare-zakura). Their long branches gracefully droop down, and when in full bloom, they create a breathtaking pink curtain-like display. These cherry trees are believed to have been planted during the time when the Konoe family lived here, adding a historical touch to the scenery.
The blossoms usually reach their peak between late March and early April, making this one of the most popular hanami (flower-viewing) spots within Kyoto Gyoen. The surrounding area offers wide lawns and peaceful walking paths, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the traditional spring landscape of Japan.
