The “Matsumura Shina – Exhibition 2025 – KG+” is currently being held on the 8th floor of THE GATE HOTEL Kyoto Takasegawa from April 26 to May 5.
The title of this exhibition is “piece of cake.” It is a slang expression meaning “a piece of cake” or “something easy.”
In a world where difficulties in living are often talked about, the exhibition conveys the hope that the choices that allow individuals to feel comfortable should be easy, unimpeded by others, and free from being neglected or ridiculed.
この展覧会のタイトルは『piece of cake』。「朝飯前」「容易」といった意味合いのスラングである。 何かと生きづらさが取り沙汰される世の中ではあるが、自らが心地よくいられる選択は、誰かに阻まれたり、蔑ろにされたり、あざけられることなく、たやすくあってほしい、あるべきだという思いを込めているそうだ。
“KG+” is an open-call art festival that started in 2013 as a satellite event of the international photography festival “KYOTOGRAPHIE Kyoto International Photography Festival,” held every spring in Kyoto. Its aim is to discover and support emerging artists and curators, attracting a diverse range of creators from both Japan and abroad.
「KG+（ケージープラス）」は、京都で毎年春に開催される国際写真祭「KYOTOGRAPHIE 京都国際写真祭」のサテライトイベントとして、2013年にスタートした公募型のアートフェスティバルです。新進気鋭のアーティストやキュレーターの発掘と支援を目的とし、国内外から多様な表現者が参加しています。

Profile of Ms Matsumura Shina
She began her creative career in 2007 with web and DTP design.
After submitting a hobby photograph to Sha Girl Vol.3, she was invited to pursue photography professionally, leading to regular assignments in Kyoto.
She handled photography for WEB Seigensha Magazine and the 2015 book Living in Ajiki Alley, establishing Kyoto as her base.
Currently, she works in photography and print design, run the design and photography school torico.camera, and lecture on “Design and Photography” at Kyoto University of the Arts and various events.
2007年からWebデザインとDTPデザインに従事。趣味で撮った写真が雑誌『写ガール Vol.3』に掲載されたことをきっかけにカメラマンとして活動を開始し、京都での撮影を始める。
京都の出版社・青幻舎のWEBマガジンや、2015年発行の書籍『あじき路地で暮らす。』の撮影を担当し、京都を拠点に本格的な活動を展開。
現在は、Webや書籍の撮影、紙媒体のデザイン、デザインとカメラの教室「torico.camera」を主宰し、京都芸術デザイン専門学校の非常勤講師も務める。イベントや大学で「デザインと写真」に関する講義も行っている。
