What will change with the "Specified Resident Card"? Benefits of Integration and Essentials of "New Time Limit Management" that Companies Should Prepare for Now

1. Residency management to be digitally accelerated on June 14, 2026.
   The "Specified Resident Card" is finally scheduled to be put into operation on June 14, 2026 (counter acceptance from June 15). This card will combine the functions of the existing "Resident Card" and "My Number Card" into a single card.

Voluntary: Not mandatory for all, but those who wish to apply may do so.

One-page completion: Reduces the need to go through immigration procedures and municipal procedures (e.g., change of address) twice.

2. Practical impact of "information disappearing from the face of the ticket
   This is the biggest point of caution for employers. With the Specified Resident Card (and the new style cards from the same period), some items are only recorded in the IC chip.

Information that will not be visible (e.g.: date of expiration of period of stay, type of permit, date of permit, etc.).

Challenge: Visual inspection alone will no longer be sufficient to determine the risk of illegal employment. Companies are required to introduce IC chip-reading applications and stricter digital management systems.

3. Change the concept of "expiration date" (e.g., permanent residents)
   In conjunction with the introduction of the specific residence card, the expiration date of the card itself will also be reviewed.
