The “Kon-Chiki-Chin” chime, signaling the arrival of summer, has returned to the streets of Kyoto once again.
Today marked the start of “Hokotate”—the assembly of the Naginata-hoko float, which is widely considered the highlight of the Gion Matsuri festival. The moment I caught the news, I couldn’t sit still; I grabbed my beloved camera and rushed to the scene at Shijo-Karasuma.
For this outing, I chose the Sony α7C II as my partner—a compact, lightweight body that delivers stunning rendering power—paired with the FE 24-50mm F2.8 G, a lens that perfectly balances maneuverability with a fast F2.8 aperture.
