The requirements for the Business/Management visa will be revised. The minimum capital requirement will be raised to 30 million yen or more, six times the current amount. In addition, the employment of at least one full-time employee will also become a mandatory condition, and both requirements must be met.
New requirements regarding the applicant’s background and education will also be introduced. Applicants must have at least three years of business or management experience, or hold a master’s degree or higher in a business/management-related field.
When determining eligibility for the visa, the confirmation of a new business plan by a certified public accountant or a small and medium-sized enterprise management consultant will, in principle, be mandatory.
The Immigration Services Agency plans to seek public comments (with submissions accepted from August 26 to September 25) and aims to revise the ministerial ordinance in October.
