東方の守護神、青龍が境内と門前町を練り歩く。 清水寺には、観音さまの化身である龍が音羽の瀧に夜ごと飛来して水を飲むという伝承があります。
Seiryu, the divine dragon guardian of the East, parades through the temple grounds and the surrounding town. Legend has it that at Kiyomizu-dera, this dragon—an incarnation of Kannon—flies down to Otowa Waterfall every night to drink its waters.
